An Introduction to Cosmo’s Comprendium

Cowabunga!

Hello everyone, my name is Cosmo, and welcome to Cosmo’s Compendium!

I’ve never liked doing introductions but here we go! As stated before I’m Cosmo(they/he pronouns)! I’m a black content creator in my early 20s. I’m autistic, queer, and mentally ill with a Bachelor’s degree in English-Creative Writing and currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Writing.

As an avid enjoyer of media in all forms, ranging from video games, animation, films, television, and comic books, I enjoy the content, even more so, when I put it under a critical lens and engage with it that way. I make analyses of these media, from general lenses such as themes, narration, etc as well as lenses that are considered the ‘marginalized lens’(ie: black, autistic, neurodivergent, and mentally ill). These analyses will discuss how the formation of the media affects those who are considered marginalized and in turn how we create media that continues this cycle. In addition, not only will this blog analyze media but it will also talk about the fandoms/fanbases of these media and the behaviors that are perpetuated in these spaces.

In order for us all to grow and round out our character development, we must be willing to open up our listening ears, to listen and comprehend when voices often silenced by the majority speak up. It will be difficult and uncomfortable to do, to work through our biases and preconceived notions, but discomfort and unease are a necessary part of growing, as with all things that push us to be better in life. This is the place to have conversations and to learn.

Before I close off this entry, I will say this: thank you. Thank you for taking the time out of your day and choosing to engage with this blog. If you want to see what I’m up to, feel free to follow me on Twitter and Instagram @cosmonautstitch. If you’re feeling generous and would like to support me financially, feel free to donate to my Ko-Fi. There is no consequence if you don’t, as this blog and the content on it will always remain free and accessible to the public. Paywalls are the antithesis to this operation.

Once again, thank you.

-Cosmo
